Some landscapes feel less like places and more like markers in time.
High above an ancient black lava field in Iceland, my drone revealed a narrow bridge cutting through an otherwise wild and seemingly untouched landscape. From the air, its scale felt almost insignificant against the vastness surrounding it. Yet my eye kept returning to that bridge.
I realized later why.
Threshold represents where I am in my own journey as a photographer. After nearly two decades behind the camera, my path has led me somewhere I never expected. Away from the familiar and into a world of fine art landscape and wildlife photography that has completely changed the way I see, create, and tell stories.
A threshold is not the destination. It is the place between what has been and what is still waiting ahead.
Standing at this point in my career, that feels especially meaningful. Iceland itself seemed like the perfect landscape in which to tell that story. Ancient volcanic earth. A solitary road. A bridge connecting one side to another. And beyond it, an unknown path continuing into the distance.
Threshold is about having the courage to keep moving forward, even when you cannot yet see exactly where the road will lead.
For me, this image is more than an aerial photograph of Iceland. It is a portrait of transition, possibility, and the extraordinary beauty that can appear when we are willing to enter the next chapter.
