One Scottsdale Maker, Beside Another
My work has always been about seeing clearly: waiting for the light, holding still, and letting a moment reveal itself exactly as it is. So when I learned about the Starry Foundation, a nonprofit built a few miles from my studio here in Scottsdale, its mission felt deeply familiar. It exists so that families raising neurodiverse children can finally see their child clearly, and be seen in return.
The Starry Foundation was founded by Bobby Vossoughi, a fellow Scottsdale parent who turned the hardest chapter of his own family's life into a lifeline for others. That is a kind of creation I understand and admire. This partnership is my way of putting the quiet power of art to work for a cause that changes real lives, right here at home.
A Family's Search for Answers
Bobby and his wife welcomed their daughter Ellie into a world that felt, to her, overwhelming at every turn. As an infant and toddler she cried almost constantly. The family tried everything within reach, from reflux treatment to dietary changes, supplements, and naturopathic care. By the time Ellie was two, they were physically and emotionally exhausted, still without a name for what she was living through.
The answer came from another parent who had walked the same road, and from a book: Sensational Kids: Hope and Help for Children with Sensory Processing Disorder by Dr. Lucy Miller. In its pages the family finally recognized their daughter. They reached the STAR Institute in Colorado, where Ellie was properly diagnosed and, at last, helped.

Bobby Vossoughi, FounderOut of that experience, and the community that gathered around the Starry Starry Night Gala, the Starry Foundation was formed: so that no Arizona family would have to find their way through the dark alone.

The Starry Foundation connects children living with sensory processing disorder and autism spectrum disorder to leading multidisciplinary medical teams: licensed psychologists, behavior analysts, occupational and speech therapists, and developmental neurologists. Four pillars guide everything they do.

The Shining Stars Grant
Removes the financial barriers that keep families from comprehensive evaluations and support, so a diagnosis is decided by need, not by cost.
Starry Therapy Dogs
Specially trained therapy dogs placed with neurodiverse children, offering steady comfort and connection through every hard day.
The Parent Community
A private peer network built by and for parents navigating neurodiversity, so no one has to carry the questions alone.
Research Support
Sponsorship of studies that pair therapy with behavioral, neurological, and neuroimaging assessment to advance how these children are understood.
Why This Matters to So Many
An Ongoing Partnership
This is not a one-time gesture. Each year, SLG Masterworks makes a gift to the Starry Foundation and stands behind its Starry Starry Night Gala, the gathering where this whole mission began. It is a commitment we intend to renew for as long as this studio makes photographs.
Every collector who brings one of my photographs home becomes a quiet part of that promise. The light in these images is meant to be lived with, and shared. Helping more Arizona families find their own clarity and hope is the truest place I know to send it.
