Beneath the Infinite

Monument Valley, Navajo Nation

Open Edition

The last light of day was slipping away over Monument Valley, but the sky was just beginning to reveal something extraordinary.

I wanted to capture the immense presence of these ancient sandstone formations against the approaching darkness, with just a hint of the Milky Way making its appearance overhead.

What draws me to this photograph is the contrast. The rugged, deeply textured cliffs rise from the desert floor with an almost overwhelming sense of permanence. Above them, the sky transitions into beautiful shades of blue and violet, with delicate clouds drifting across a scattering of stars.

And then there's the Milky Way. Not an overpowering display, but a subtle reminder of just how vast the universe is beyond these remarkable formations.

Monument Valley has been photographed countless times, but I wanted this image to feel different. Rather than the familiar sweeping views of its iconic buttes, I was drawn to the intimate details of the towering rock faces, the soft desert dunes, and the extraordinary relationship between the land and the night sky.

For me, this is the American Southwest at its most powerful. Ancient, untamed, and absolutely timeless.

Presented on museum-quality acrylic, Beneath the Infinite brings remarkable depth to the sandstone formations while allowing the subtle colors of the evening sky and delicate stars to come alive. A dramatic statement for collectors who appreciate the extraordinary beauty of the American Southwest.
