On a rain-soaked morning in Mala Mala Game Reserve, South Africa, I found myself lying flat on the floor of our safari vehicle, cradling a large telephoto lens only inches above the earth. It was the only way to create the perspective I had envisioned. I didn't want you looking down at this magnificent female leopard. I wanted you to feel as though you were sharing the ground beneath her feet.

As she emerged from the bush and walked quietly toward me, the world seemed to disappear. The soft light left behind by the rain revealed every detail of her coat while her unwavering gaze carried the quiet confidence that has made leopards one of Africa's most revered predators.
