In Black & White
Botswana, Africa
I didn't want to make a pretty picture of zebras.
Photographed in Botswana, Africa, this image began with something already extraordinary: two zebras pressed close enough that their patterns seemed to collide, overlap and almost become one. But what interested me most wasn't simply the animals. It was the design hidden inside them.
So I took this one somewhere darker.
By stripping away the color and allowing much of the scene to disappear into black, the familiar suddenly became abstract. Stripes turn into lines. Faces emerge from shadow. One zebra nearly dissolves into the other, and for a moment it becomes difficult to tell where one pattern ends and another begins.
That's exactly what I wanted.
As I continue building the wildlife collection for SLG.Art, I'm becoming increasingly interested in creating work that doesn't necessarily look like what people expect wildlife photography to look like. I want these pieces to feel distinctive. Artful. Collectible. Sometimes even a little unexpected.
Maybe part of collecting art is getting used to different.
In Black & White is my interpretation of one of Africa's most recognizable animals, reduced to its most elemental form: light, shadow, pattern and connection.

Museum-Quality Framing
Every piece is crafted with the same care as the photograph itself. Choose from two handcrafted float frames or a crystal-clear acrylic face mount.

Black Float Frame
A sleek, modern black float frame that suspends the print with a subtle reveal around all edges, giving the artwork a gallery-quality depth and presence.

Dark Brown Float Frame
A warm, natural wood float frame with rich grain and dark espresso tones. The floating mount brings dimension and an organic elegance to the piece.

Acrylic Mount
The photograph is face-mounted behind optically-clear museum-quality acrylic, creating extraordinary depth, luminosity, and a contemporary floating effect on the wall.
