Silhouette
Cathedral Rock, Sedona, Arizona
There is a fleeting moment before sunrise when the desert seems to hold its breath. The world is still, the landscape is dark, and the sky begins to reveal something extraordinary.
I captured SILHOUETTE in those precious moments before the sun emerged over Sedona, Arizona. Cathedral Rock, one of the American Southwest's most iconic natural formations, stood almost entirely in shadow as the heavens erupted into a breathtaking display of fiery orange, crimson, gold, and deep indigo.
What captivated me most was the reflection.
A quiet pool of water resting within the ancient sandstone became a natural mirror, capturing the unmistakable silhouette of Cathedral Rock against the brilliant morning sky. The rich, rust-colored sandstone surrounding the water created a sweeping frame, drawing the eye into a scene that felt almost otherworldly.
Rather than reveal every detail of the towering rock formation, I wanted to preserve its mystery. Cathedral Rock became a powerful silhouette against an extraordinary canvas of color, its rugged outline reflected in the stillness below.
There is something deeply moving about witnessing the desert awaken.
SILHOUETTE is a celebration of that transformation, where darkness meets light, stillness meets fire, and one of Arizona's most magnificent landmarks becomes part of a composition that feels both timeless and unforgettable.
Presented on museum-grade, face-mounted acrylic, SILHOUETTE transforms into a luminous statement piece. The brilliant oranges, reds, and golds take on remarkable depth against the rich shadows and deep blues, while the mirrored reflection adds an almost mesmerizing dimension.
As light moves through a room, the artwork reveals subtle shifts in color and intensity, creating a dynamic visual experience worthy of the most sophisticated interiors.
